Bogotá, Colombia — [October 20, 2025] — Airbus and Bioglobal have signed a collaboration agreement through a Joint Study Agreement (JSA) with the objective of supporting the development of the project “A Gift from Earth to Sky”, aimed at promoting the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Colombia.

The agreement establishes a joint collaboration for the commissioning of studies focused on enabling the project during its early stages. These studies include the assessment of sustainable feedstocks such as energy crops and agricultural and forestry residues, as well as technical and basic engineering studies on technological routes such as Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ), which contribute to diversifying SAF production pathways in the market. This initiative builds upon the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) previously signed between both organizations.
“Bioglobal is driven by the conviction to grow and diversify in order to provide sustainable solutions for the future of aviation. That is why we have taken on the challenge of developing a project of this scale in our country. We aim to contribute our knowledge in creating lasting agro-industries and our capacity for innovation to deliver medium-term projects that transform what we know today,” said Javier Ospina, CEO of Bioglobal Corporation.
“Sustainable Aviation Fuel is a key element in helping achieve aviation emission reduction goals: today it can reduce emissions by up to 80% throughout its lifecycle compared to conventional jet fuel. Colombia has the potential to become a SAF producer due to its biodiverse resources and experience in biodiesel fuel production and regulation”, said Paula Daroca Arcas, Head of Airbus International Business Growth for Latin America and Caribbean.
This collaboration reflects Airbus’ commitment to the industry’s decarbonization roadmap, set by ATAG, IATA and ICAO, and Bioglobal’s mission to promote renewable solutionsthrough innovation, strengthening the region’s agricultural and energy capabilities, and advancing the scale up of SAF production in Colombia and Latin America.
